I am honored that you have taken the time to visit. This website reflects a lifetime shaped by engineering, leadership, public service, faith, family, and the lessons learned through both success and adversity. My hope is that the ideas shared here will encourage thoughtful reflection, meaningful conversations, and a renewed commitment to living with responsibility, resilience, and purpose.
Life rarely unfolds along equal paths. Some people begin with opportunity, while others face obstacles from the very beginning. Yet regardless of where our journey starts, each of us has the capacity—and the responsibility—to make choices that shape our future and influence the lives of those who follow.
I wrote Unequal Paths after a lifetime of experiences in engineering, leadership, public service, faith, and personal adversity. Throughout my career, I witnessed how individual decisions, strong families, effective institutions, and enduring values can either expand opportunities or limit them. Those experiences, together with the lessons learned through personal trials, inspired me to write this book.
My hope is that Unequal Paths encourages readers to think deeply, live responsibly, strengthen their families and communities, and approach life’s challenges with resilience, faith, and purpose. While we cannot always choose the path we begin on, we can choose the character, discipline, and hope with which we travel it.
My Background
I’ve lived across different worlds—from Haiti to America—navigating cultural barriers, overcoming obstacles, building a family, holding firmly to my faith, and pursuing a career that has spanned nearly three decades. Along the way, I have seen firsthand how opportunity, institutions, personal responsibility, and perseverance can alter the course of a life.
I hold a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Computer Science, with a career spanning systems and software engineering, systems safety, software development, and technical leadership in support of complex government and defense programs. Engineering taught me something that reaches far beyond technology: nothing strong, reliable, or enduring is built by accident. It requires sound foundations, integrity, accountability, discipline, and the willingness to identify weaknesses before they become failures.
The same principles apply to societies and to the lives we build within them. Families, communities, and institutions are shaped by what we tolerate, what we strengthen, what we neglect, and what we choose to pass forward.
Those lessons became the foundation of Unequal Paths—a reflection on where we begin, the systems we inherit, the choices we make, and our responsibility for what comes next. Because while none of us chooses our starting point, we all have a role in shaping the path we leave for the next generation.
Why I Wrote Unequal Paths
Unequal Paths was written to do more than tell a story. It was written to invite serious reflection and meaningful conversation about responsibility, resilience, faith, family, education, leadership, opportunity, and the institutions that shape both individual lives and the future of society.
My hope is that readers will come away with more than an understanding of why our paths are unequal. I hope they will ask a more important question: What responsibility do we have for the path we leave behind? We may not choose where we begin, the circumstances we inherit, or every obstacle placed before us—but we can choose how we respond, what we build, what we preserve, and what we pass forward.
